Phoenix Arizona Granite Countertops

Granite countertops and why they are a popular option!

When you think about granite countertops, frankly, you often think about the grey, speckled granite that your grandma had in her kitchen. Granite is so much more than that now. It has evolved into a trendy, durable piece of art that people keep in their homes for generations.

Granite is a natural material, made from magma that has cooled under the earth’s surface.  After many years, erosion causes the granite to become exposed, and from there, it is mined.

Granite is mined most often in mountainous areas. It is commonly found in countries like India, China, Brazil, Sweden, Germany and Spain.

When the granite is ready to be mined, it is chiseled and blasted out of quarries and then cut into slabs.

Here at Arista Stones, we have fostered many personal relationships with quarries around the world. We order our slabs directly from them. When they arrive at Arista Stones, we conduct a quality check to ensure that the materials are up to Arista standards. We prioritize getting solid materials to our clients, at a solid price.

Some of the benefits of granite include:

  1. Granite is one of the hardest materials. It is made from hardened lava, allowing it to be scratch, etch, stain, and heat resistant. Within reason of course, anything can be damaged if you try to damage it.

  2. Granite is easy to clean and relatively low maintenance. Be sure to wipe up stains with warm soapy water, and seal it and it will stay as good as new.

  3. Granite is truly an heirloom stone. It ads value to your kitchen, making it a good option if you are living in the home or renting it out.

At Arista, we like to keep it real with you! There are a few reasons why granite may not be a good option for you:

  1. Maybe the aesthetic isn’t for you. While there are many different types of colors and patterns of granite, it all does have a look- it looks like it’s granite! If that look isn’t for you, that is fair enough and we will work with you to find a material that is right for your aesthetic needs.

  2. Granite can be expensive, not only to buy but also to install. At Arista, we keep it as affordable as possible and it generally falls in the $30-$60/sq ft. range, although it can run higher than that depending on the material. Arista Stones simply supplies the stones, we don’t fabricate or install the stone. With that being said, we have a large network of expert fabricators who would do an extraordinary job with your countertop. Because granite is such a hard material, it can be more challenging to work with than an engineered material like quartz, and fabricators will charge am premium.

  3. Because granite is so hard to damage, there are limited repair options if disaster strikes. Is that a risk you’re willing to take?

Arista Stones offers a myriad of granite options including white, brown, black, multicolor (yes, we have blue granite) and grey-toned granite. There truly is an option for everyone and we always do our best to work within your budget.

Stop by our location at 695 West Elliot Road to view our selection of granite. We will pull multiple materials out for you to see!
