Arista Stones Agate Highlight

What is an agate?

Categorized under the ‘gemstone’ countertop family, along with other stones like amethyst and tiger's eye, agates are some of the most breathtaking materials that Arista has to offer (and we have a lot of gorgeous materials).

Agate countertops are created by having stone cut and placed in a resin base. This resin base is typically some sort of acrylic or epoxy, making it durable and engineered in a way. The price point of agate countertops is typically on the higher side, as they are formed from semiprecious materials.

These materials are stain-resistant and non-porous because they are encapsulated by resin, making them easy to maintain.

Homeowners will often use agates as kitchen and kitchen island countertops. Because they are translucent, designers can get very creative with them, turning these materials into back walls along a stairwell or creating a shower area from them. Fabricators can even create smaller pieces like tables or even charcuterie boards, from agate slabs.

What are the benefits of agates?

Despite being as expensive as they are (we will not sugarcoat it) agates hold their durability and will last you for a long time with proper maintenance. Maintaining an agate is similar to maintaining a quartz countertop due to its similar resin properties. Wipe spills right away with a warm, soapy washcloth, and avoid abrasive and acidic soaps.

Because they are primarily natural, you could consider agates to be more environmentally friendly than other countertop options.

Agates are objectively some of the most breathtaking stones you have ever seen. They are not everybody’s cup of tea, but they never fail to leave customers in awe.

What agates does Arista carry?

Arista recently received a few new agate materials. Agate Blanc, Agate Gris and Agate Smoke. These semiprecious exotic stones are truly a gem and would be sure to light up any space.

Conclusion

In spite of their price, which may be the only con of owning a gemstone countertop, agates are durable, easy to maintain, and beautiful. We have three here for you to view, right here at Arista. Visit us at 695 W Elliot Rd.
